2003 Santa Claus Parade

The Children’s Safety Village wins “Best Theme” in Jaycees Santa Claus Parade

The Special Events committee, led by Keri Korfmann, along with many volunteers, organized by Ian Cunningham, donated their time and effort to putting together a winning float. The float included a 32 foot long wooden train, which was donated to the village by Byron Anderson. The train was painted (in CN colours) and decalled by Pros Auto of Brantford. The float was decorated with Christmas trees, lights, garland, presents and of course, many children. Student volunteers assisted by handing out candy canes to children and Safety Village brochures to parents, who were watching the parade. Julie Horrocks, Media/Public Relations chair was very pleased to see the number of people who turned out for the event. “The parade was certainly a wonderful event to be a part of...and we hope to have raised some community awareness as to what The Children’s Safety Village of Brant will have to offer, once it is in operation. The village will be a place where children ages four to twelve can learn the fundamentals of safety and awareness. It will be built on the grounds of Mohawk College, and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2004. Anyone interested in making a donation to the village should contact office staff at 720-6950.”
