2010-2011 School Visit Calendar

The Children’s Safety Village of Brant operates on a first come, first served basis and there is no cost to attend the Safety Village. We are now accepting registration for the 2010-2011 school year. We encourage teachers to book your field trips early to ensure availability of preferred dates.

The programs are designed for two grade levels at a time to attend – one for the fire and one for the police. This allows for two classes of up to 30 students per class to come together and fill the bus to capacity. Both Fire and Police Programs run simultaneously; we encourage you to bring both grades. The Children’s Safety Village is also fully accessible to all children, including children with special needs.

  • Fire classes run approximately 80 minutes in duration.
  • Police classes run approximately 80 minutes in duration.
  • Morning classes start at 9.30 a.m. and afternoon classes start at 1.00 p.m.
  • Grade one, grade three, and grade five Police programs include an outdoor portion and take place in all weather conditions, unless the weather is extreme or cancelled by the school. Dress accordingly.
  • Grade three students are required to bring their own bicycle helmets to participate.
  • Transportation to and from the Children’s Safety Village is your responsibility!

For children ages 14 and under, the number-one health risk isn't drugs or disease: it's injuries. Each year, unintentional injuries kill more than 6,000 kids and permanently disable more than 120,000. In Canada, injuries are the leading cause of death for children over one year of age.

Every time a child is injured or killed by an unintentional injury, everyone suffers - the child, his or her family, classmates and friends, and the entire community. Sadly, the vast majority of these injuries are not random "accidents" - they are predictable and preventable.
