The Children's Safety Village of Brant..
gets a new mascot!

A Grade 2 student from Central Brantford Public School was the lucky recipient of a computer, won in The Children's Safety Village of Brant - Name the Mascot Contest. The computer prize was generously donated by Jebbo's Electronic Warehouse.

Julie Horrocks, Chair of Media/Public Relations, said that "there were some very interesting names submitted. The Media/Public Relations committee unanimously agreed that Seymore Safety Bear was the most appropriate name. The mascot will be used on brochures, t-shirts, balloons, and lapel pins to promote the village."

The original mascot design was created by local artist Michael Swanson and painted by Karen Jones, a student at Grand Erie Learning Alternatives.

Many people are unaware that the leading cause of death for Canadians aged 1 to 44 is injury, both unintentional (falls, car crashes, poisoning, drowning, fires) and intentional (such as suicide and violence). Injuries kill more young Canadians than any other disease or illness. In fact, injury takes the lives of more Canadian teenagers than all other causes of death combined.
